Weekend Getaway: NoMo SoHo NYC

nyc couples getawayThere's typically a mass exodus of the city from July - September, but recently Rob and I settled in for an NYC weekend getaway at the newly named NOMO SOHO Hotel! Formerly the Mondrian, this luxury boutique spot is now under new ownership so we decided to continue our anniversary celebrations and see if the buzz was well deserved. The summer is my favorite time to stay and enjoy NYC, simply because it's less crowded. I love packing a bag and checking into a swanky spot for the weekend; feels just as adventurous as heading to the airport but without all the extra stress. Perfect for a few nights spent dining out, exploring the city and toasting on champs with my #hothusband. The NOMO SOHO is now one of my new favorite hotels, so read on for a quick recap on our stay!

Check-in was just how I like it; quick, easy and pet friendly. As soon as we walked into our 1 bedroom suite, I was sold. Easy, right? I'm a sucker for artful decor and I mean - the carpet is blue. BLUE! I'm a fan of any hotel adventurous enough to mix vintage with modern in a stylish way that feels cheeky and unique. In my own home, I'm far too clumsy to decorate with an abundance of white but in this gleaming, bright, cloud bubble of a hotel room, I loved it.

Floor to ceiling windows lend an insane amount of natural light, with sweeping views of trendy SoHo 17 stories below. By NYC standards, the suite felt spacious and luxurious and we couldn't have felt more at home. TIP: In keeping with the vibe, NOMO SOHO likes dark and sensuous hallways, which can be a bit disorienting at first. I actually appreciated it though, because it just adds to the drama of opening your hotel room door to so much gorgeous light!

nomo soho restarauntWe didn't get a chance try the Italian at NoMo Kitchen, but we did pop in for a few cocktails to check out the bar scene. I'd definitely go back next time and order the Cauliflower Tempura, the Truffle Flatbread and the Falafel Crust Salmon!

nyc staycation hotelsRemind me that in my next home, I want THIS. Lots and lots of this lavish bathroom with the crystal details and the marble counters and the perfect lighting. A girl could get used to getting ready like this! The Molton Brown bath products were a new discovery for me, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they are a British brand, made in the UK! TIP: There's a Molton Brown storefront just a short walk away from the NOMO SOHO and if you call in advance, you can book a hand and arm massage for free!

best hotels in nycIf I had to choose the most memorable thing about our stay at NOMO SOHO, it would have to be the one thing I can't remember all too well. I got THE best sleep of my life and didn't wake up in the middle of the night, not even once! I live with a habitual snorer (read: live with a freight train), but not even Rob could interrupt the luxurious sleep that I got while here. Full REM cycles, people. We spent a lot of time in this bed.

best nyc weekend tripsThe living room space got me thinking about planning another trip for my girls to come up to NYC soon! I could totally see all of us cozied up here on the wrap-around couch with a few room service treats, cocktails from the minibar, mani/pedis and our favorite movies!

nomo soho weekendSo what's the verdict? Our weekend getaway at NOMO SOHO was definitely one for the ages, and I'm so glad we got to cross this off of  our summer bucket list. Artful decor, a trendy bar scene, impeccable service and luxurious rooms? What more could a girl ask for? If you're on the east coast this summer, this spot is definitely a must try - we can't recommend it enough!
