Old Navy Style: Poncho Cape
Oddly enough, I've actually been looking forward to fall so today I teamed up with Old Navy to highlight one of my favorite ways to dress for cooler weather - the poncho cape! Before delving straight into heavy winter jackets and scarves, a poncho or cape is the perfect layering piece to incorporate into your wardrobe. Throw it on and go!
I find myself heading to Old Navy at the turn of every season because I'm guaranteed to find versatile statement pieces like this windowpane checked poncho cape, and the perfect basics like sweater dresses. My trick to styling a poncho is to snap a pic while trying on two different sizes before buying; one in your typical size and also the next size up. That way whether you're petite/curvy/tall/in-between, you'll have a good idea about how much drape your particular frame can handle. I'd normally wear a small in any type of outerwear, but I sized up in this one so that it would be a little more flowy when layered over outfits like a long-sleeve dress and my favorite faux suede shooties. When in doubt, it's effortless to pull together a look that says chic and stylish on the outside, while you feel comfortable and cozy on the inside.Which ironically, is how I'm approaching the beginning phases of maternity style. All I want to wear right now are soft knits, and one quick trip to Old Navy has confirmed that I'll be stopping back in quite a bit over the weeks to come!
