Fit Friday: 21 Day Fun Run Challenge
Taking back my health and fitness has been one of the most empowering things I've done in a long while, and next up on my list for fall is tackling what I'm calling the "Fall Fun Run Challenge"! Old me would scoff and ask why the words "fun" and "run" were in the same sentence -- but healthy me is actually excited about trying something new. I really enjoy doing 21 Day Fix workouts with my challenge groups each month, but I also think it's SO important to diversify your workouts and stretch your muscles in more ways than one! So in order to do just that (and spend more time together) Rob and I have recently started running / walking together and you know what? I think you should join us. Even if you think you hate working out outside, this you can do, I promise! (Click here to join the free group!)So how do you get involved? It's all pretty simple actually -- we are committing to going for a run together (or a speed walk if that's more your flavor) at least 3 days a week for 3 weeks straight. That's it! No intimidating expert runner's club to join, no personal time to keep track of -- just you and a partner committing to getting outside, to getting active, and further instilling healthy habits into your lifestyle! And because it's always more fun to do things in a group, the whole thing will be going down for free in a private group on Facebook. You're on it all day anyway, so why not check in 3 times a week to post a pic of you tackling the Fun Run Challenge with your run buddy? I can personally attest that being a part of a community does wonders for your accountability -- and the support and friendship is just SUPER fun! Since adding these weekly jogs to my fitness routine, I've noticed an overall improvement in so many areas, but most notably my energy level! I'm getting much more restful sleep on run days. I'm usually a little sore from logging a workout already that day, but I actually look forward to a quick stretch before plotting out a route with Rob. On the nights that we get outside, we have a quick light dinner and then stock up on lots of water (and lock that cute baby into the stroller with plenty of toys to keep her happy!)...and from there, we get to it. Aside from the calories we burn and the sweat we work up, it's the conversation that I really enjoy the most. It's such a fun way to connect and chat about life, one we rarely get now that we're busy new parents! All you need to do is pick a partner -- it can be your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, best friend, mom's uncles sister, doesn't matter who. And if you've got kiddos, strap em in the stroller and bring some entertainment along. We'll start tracking this Sunday 9/11 and go through to Saturday 10/1!
