Arya's Toddler Nursery Tour
I've been meaning to do a toddler nursery tour for some time now, so today I'm excited to share a little peek into Arya's room! I can't say that I had any specific design inspiration when it came to getting her space together; instead I was in search of a feeling. Personal? Minimalist? Airy? Metallic touches? All thoughts that popped into my head as I picked things we needed to fill her room. I wanted it to be functional for her use of course, but what they don't tell you about baby nurseries is how much time you'll actually spend in there as a parent -- so why not make it a space that brings us a little joy too? I am by no means an interior designer, nor is this professionally done, but it does detail a look into all of the essentials that we love in our toddler nursery room! Take a peek -- you might be surprised at how affordable it all is!
Our apartment has these light wood floors and Arya's room coincidentally has the BEST windows in the whole unit, so neutral tones were an obvious choice (plus, it doesn't hurt that I'm practically obsessed with grey). One of the things I've enjoyed the most about a neutral nursery is that her toys, books, and tools themselves act as a little color pop! But it's still an apartment so keeping everything small and sleek was key. That meant floating book shelves (that are actually spice racks!), utilizing the closet for heavy storage, and Swedish designed furniture to keep the room feeling open and airy. We have a love/hate relationship with Ikea, but some of my favorites elements came from there so I can't complain too much (but also won't be going back like, ever again) lol. Which is okay because everything is designed to grow with Arya!
My absolute must-haves were: a comfortable rocking chair that was simultaneously sleek in design, a neutral foam play mat to provide some extra cushion for a toddling baby, and a mini table and chair set that she could grow into. And have I mentioned budget? Everything is super affordable -- it allows me the flexibility to change my mind and add something new without feeling $$$ guilt! Another element I love is that almost everything you see has sentimental value, whether it be gifted books from loved ones or a photo print mobile of Arya's milestones. I can honestly say that this room brings joy to all of us and is the loveliest little spot to hang out in together!
